Castle, Riofreddo, Italy
The project carried out at the castle in Riofreddo, Italy, involved the complete outfitting of the building with LUCA laminated timber joinery, tailored to the specific requirements of a historic structure located in a mountainous area.
The joinery was manufactured from meranti wood, selected for its dimensional stability, durability, and performance under variable climatic conditions. The windows were produced using the IVLUCA 68 European profile and fitted with black warm-edge (Heatedge) spacers, enhancing thermal performance while maintaining a discreet and refined aesthetic.
Due to the altitude of the site, the windows were equipped with a pressure equalization valve, ensuring proper performance of the insulating glass units and long-term reliability. The intervention demonstrates LUCA’s ability to adapt modern technical solutions to the specific demands of historic buildings in challenging geographical contexts.
