The Military Technical Academy in Bucharest is a landmark architectural ensemble with a history spanning over a century. The interventions on the joinery elements were carried out with particular care for the heritage value of the building.

The project involved the manufacture of classical oak windows, faithfully reproduced from the original existing models, more than 100 years old. The adopted solution aimed to preserve the historic appearance of the façades while enhancing interior comfort through the integration of contemporary technical solutions.

A double-window system was implemented, a traditional solution adapted to modern requirements, allowing a clear separation between aesthetic and functional roles. Externally, a classical IVLUCA 42 Viennese profile with single glazing was used to maintain the building’s authenticity and original architectural expression. Internally, the IV LUCA 68 European profile, fitted with 24 mm insulating glass, provides enhanced thermal and acoustic performance.

Through this intervention, the historic windows were reconstructed with respect for the original details, achieving a balanced integration of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary comfort and energy-efficiency requirements. The project stands as an example of responsible intervention in built heritage.
