Private Building from the Interwar Period, Bucharest, Romania

The project involved the refurbishment of the main entrance door and the replacement of the existing windows in a private building representative of interwar architecture in Bucharest. The intervention was designed with respect for the building’s historic character, aiming to preserve its original architectural expression and to highlight the decorative details specific to the period.

The works included the manufacture of arched spruce-wood windows, executed using the IVLUCA 68 European profile, adapted to the original geometry of the existing openings. Decorative elements and ornaments were faithfully reproduced based on the original models, following detailed surveys and preserved references, ensuring stylistic continuity of the façades.

The exterior door was carefully restored, maintaining the original proportions, composition, and characteristic details, so as not to alter the architectural identity of the building. Both the windows and the door were finished in an anthracite grey colour, selected to enhance the façade volumes and ornamentation while discreetly introducing a contemporary accent within the historic context.

Through this intervention, the building benefited from a coherent and balanced restoration, combining respect for traditional craftsmanship with improved functionality and durability. The project stands as an example of a responsible intervention within the interwar built heritage.
